In a new report published in theNew England Journal of Medicinein February, researchers from the University of California, San Diego, conducted an analysis of the cost-effectiveness of Nexium, a generic version of the prescription heartburn medication Prilosec, and found that the cost-effectiveness of Nexium is significantly lower than that of the branded version, Prevacid, which is available by prescription. The report shows that for patients with insurance coverage for Nexium, the generic versions of Prilosec and Prevacid can significantly increase the total cost of their prescription.
In their report, researchers looked at the results of a large retrospective study published inAnnual Review of Internal Medicinein February. The authors found that Nexium and Prilosec had a more significant positive effect on patients who had not received a generic version of the same drug. The study shows that the cost of Nexium is significantly lower than the branded version, which also has a negative effect on patients with insurance coverage.
The researchers found that in the study, the patients who had insurance coverage for Prilosec had a reduced need to pay for the medication. Patients who had insurance coverage for Prilosec also had a reduced need to pay for the medication. These costs are similar to those paid for the generic versions of Prilosec.
The researchers also found that in the study, the cost of Nexium was significantly lower than that of Prilosec. The researchers note that this was not the case for the branded Prilosec, which is available by prescription only. The study does show that the branded Prilosec is significantly less expensive than the generic Prilosec.
Overall, the study provides important information about the cost-effectiveness of Nexium. The findings also demonstrate the need for a more cost-effective, generic version of the drug. For patients who have insurance coverage for Nexium, the generic versions of Prilosec and Prevacid can significantly increase the total cost of their prescription.
The study was published inThe Journal of the American Medical Associationon February 18 in the.
In the study, patients who had insurance coverage for Prilosec, Nexium, or Prevacid were randomly assigned to receive one of the following treatment options: Nexium, Prilosec, or a generic version of Prilosec. Patients who had insurance coverage for Prilosec were also given a trial of the treatment option. All patients were given the generic version of Prilosec. The study showed that in the study, the patients who had insurance coverage for Prilosec had a reduced need to pay for the medication.
The researchers note that these results were based on retrospective, case-controlled, and data analysis. They conclude that patients who were randomized to receive Nexium, Prilosec, or a generic version of Prilosec could be cost-effective at a cost-effective price. In other words, patients who were not in insurance coverage for Prilosec could be cost-effective at a cost-effective price.
